This week, my “Hot Topic” is my continued “Work-cay” in South Beach, Florida. That’s right; I plunge my neck deep into work, fun, and relaxation. That’s the beauty of being a “Travelpreneur.” I travel and live the best life in business and pleasure. How fun, right? More about my trip in a minute. Let’s talk about you.

Well, there is good news. You can also work and travel. How? Do you ask? Well, first things first. What is your passion, and can you monetize it? If the answer is yes, you are getting close. Working on what you love to do and getting paid to do it is the American dream.

With the advancement of the internet, communications, endless applications, etc., the open road is at your fingertips. The “Work From Home” generation is upon us. So, if you can work from home, you can work anywhere. The beach, yes. Yosemite, yes. The moon, well, you get my drift. The possibilities are endless.

The next thing you need is a plan. Can you run a business from a computer and a cellphone? Is FaceTime something your clients or customers will accept as a business meeting? As long as you can work without being physically present for every aspect of your business, you can see hula and hustle from the black sands of Kona.

Paying for travel instead of or as well as rent/mortgage is a consideration. Hopefully, you can do both. If you still need to, you must run your numbers and compare them.

These are just some things to take inventory of when thinking about becoming a working wanderlust.

Okay, so back to South Beach. I was fortunate enough to stay at the glorious former home of Gianni Versace. It’s also called Villa Casa Casuarina and is a gorgeous boutique hotel. I stayed in the same room frequented by Sir Elton John. The room dripped with fine furnishings and gold hardware. What a magnificent way to respite.

I worked and dined poolside. When I say poolside, I am not talking about the average cemented hole in the ground, I’m talking about a grand, opulent, gold-infused art piece. I was transformed into a European, wet dream.

The dining was a transformative experience. The dessert reigned supreme. Who could go wrong with Tiramisu adorned with Gli Oro (gold in Italian)? These are just some of the decadent morsels of life that one can enjoy as a traveling entrepreneur.

The bottom line is you can create your lifestyle and workload if you can think of it well. You know the rest.
